Opening the first Famoso Pizzeria in the Okanagan was about more than just crafting a restaurant—it was about capturing a franchise’s signature warmth while tailoring it to a local, vibrant neighbourhood. Located at the bottom of SOPA Square in Kelowna’s bustling Pandosy Village, this mixed-use development required a detailed and thoughtful tenant improvement. From incorporating reclaimed barn wood to managing the delivery and placement of a 5,000-lb pizza oven imported from Italy, Plan B Contractors brought Famoso’s vision to life, right down to the very last detail.
Famoso was expanding into the Okanagan for the first time and needed a space that reflected the brand’s cozy, authentic atmosphere while seamlessly integrating into a mixed-use building. Plan B Contractors won the competitive bid to handle the tenant improvement for the restaurant’s main floor unit in SOPA Square. The project required alignment with the franchise’s established design theme and clever engineering, largely to support the weight and transport path of the massive imported pizza oven. Reclaimed wood from a Kelowna heritage barn created a warm, rustic interior, reflecting the franchise’s character and the Okanagan region’s charm.
This project was delivered by Plan B’s trusted internal team in collaboration with long-time industry partners, including Keldon Electric and Blade Cabinetry. With Famoso providing the brand design and finish direction, our team ensured every element—from custom millwork to mechanical and electrical systems—was executed to specification. Decades of working relationships with local Kelowna trades helped keep the project moving smoothly and on budget.
