Breathing new life into a historic downtown Kelowna building, this project involved a full interior and exterior transformation. The team at Plan B demolished the existing space down to its bones, reconfigured the interior into two commercial rental units (CRUs), and revitalized the exterior, restoring original brick, replacing storefronts, and updating finishes. Every challenge was met with expert problem-solving, craftsmanship, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, long-lasting construction solutions to ready the space for its next chapter.
This building had seen better days; the interior was outdated and in disrepair, with major structural concerns lurking beneath the surface. Once demolition began, we uncovered significant issues, including compromised concrete block walls, cracked and shifting foundations, and a floor level that didn’t align with the street. The exterior was hiding its true character beneath an angled glass façade, which we removed to reveal and restore the original brickwork. Creating a functional, modern space while preserving the historic charm of this downtown landmark required strategic problem-solving and precision work, like many of our past projects.
This commercial construction project was managed by Chris Van Dassen and brought together a dedicated team of experts, including structural engineers, skilled trades, and our in-house construction professionals. By collaborating closely and adapting to unexpected hurdles, we ensured the space was not only structurally sound but also ready to welcome new tenants.
